CYCLING PLUS XMAS 2004:

  • If you want to do more to your drivetrain than change the cassette you'll need something like this which does bottom brackets (BB) too. We've continued to be impressed with Cyclo's Remover set since we tested it back in C+ 143 - its had plenty of use. The set is a holding tool and six remover tools suitable for all current Campag and most Shimano cassette and bottom brackets, as well as German FAG type cartridge bottom brackets. It stops the problem of the tool face slipping on the cups by using a spring loaded holder. This is most relevant for cheaper Campag and FAG type bottom brackets. But those using Campag Chorus and Record BBs in Italitan threaded frames - which need to be tightened firmly - might also benefit. To use, simply press the tools against the bottom bracket cup while turning the threaded end into the axle thread. The holding tool has interchangeable threads so you can remove Shimano Hollowtech BB axles, though you can't fit or remove a Shimano Dura Ace bottom bracket.

The nearest equivalent to this system is the individually bought Tacx tools - but the Cyclo kit works out a lot cheaper.
